Milestone event of the new production facility being held in Kauhava, Finland on November 7, 2018
Verso Food Ltd. is investing 10 million euros in a new production facility in Kauhava, Finland. The plant covers 4000 m² and employs approximately 20 people, with production starting during early 2019. The traditional “topping out” celebration – reaching the milestone of roof construction completed – takes place on Wednesday 7th November.
Verso Food is the Finnish market leader in plant based protein products. In Finland the company is known for its Härkis® branded products; in other markets the company operates under the brand Fava Mill®.
The investment is an important step for Verso Food’s growing international business. The facility enables the company to develop new innovative products as well as establish further export markets.
”Our new production facility will refine Fava beans for use in both existing and future product ranges. Our aim is to widen the range of Fava bean based innovations and also optimize them to suit the local food culture and needs of our export markets. We carefully choose our export partners, considering their local market knowledge and ability to commercialize our products”, says Tomi Järvenpää, CEO of Verso Food.
The new facility in Kauhava is needed to meet the strong global interest in the company’s Fava bean products.
”Our vegetarian food innovations have gained wide interest internationally; across the United States, Europe and Asia”, says Järvenpää and continues:
”Our Finnish Fava bean is an excellent raw material. It is superior to its relatives grown elsewhere; thanks to the growth season with long days of sunshine, the bean develops both more taste and better nutrients. Out of this little bean we produce delicious, healthy and environmentally friendly foods that are suitable for everyone.”
