Finnish plant-based food brand Beanit gains competitive edge when certified for its top level food safety and quality

Verso Food, the Finnish producer of plant-based food, has obtained the FSSC 22000 food safety management certification for its production facility in Kauhava, Finland. The clean and safe, high-quality food made from Finnish fava beans is in high demand on global markets, and the certification plays an essential role in supporting the export of Beanit products and establishing new partnerships. We are delighted and proud to have this demanding certificate hung on the wall of our Kauhava production facility just a year after launching production.

FSSC certification is a quality certification scheme that is extensively used in the European food industry. It guarantees the quality and safety of a company’s operations and products – aspects that are valued by consumers and customers across all markets. Our certification covers the ISO 22000:2018 and ISO/TS 22002-1:2009 standards and the additional requirements of the FSSC 22000 standard’s fifth version.

Verso Food’s Quality Manager Elena Syväjärvi was responsible for leading the certification process and engaging the entire organisation. “It is not a given for a new production facility to obtain a high-level quality certificate such as this in less than a year. Managing to complete the certification process and the required measures in just a year goes to show that we have our quality management in check by default and that our top professionals are committed to food safety,” Syväjärvi says.

Verso Food’s CEO Tomi Järvenpää expects product safety to receive more and more attention in the future global food system: “As a Finnish player, we have reliability and quality at heart and in our DNA. This certificate proves to our international corporate partners and consumers that we are one of the players who focus on quality and product safety at the only acceptable level: professionally and without compromise.”

The certificate that we have just received is not the destination; it is a milestone in our journey of developing quality and product safety.
